Human nature is a fascinating topic of study for me… I would see a situation and think: “What made him do that?” or “Why did she respond that way?” From there I would try to figure out how I could improve the responses I saw.
As an educator, I would often see less than stellar responses to “required education.” Even when that education is delivered in a fun and engaging way, or gamified, there would always be those who were unhappy to be in the room or had mentally checked out. When our department was reorganized to fall under the marketing department, I realized how close education and marketing truly are. An educator is trying to convince employees to do things a certain way, and marketers are trying to convince customers to respond a certain way (i.e. make a purchase, choose their business, etc.). In many ways, they are two sides of the same coin.
This led me to study copywriting and learn how content that was not “salesy” was integral to building trust, educating customers, and helping them make informed decisions about the best choices for them. Now that was copywriting I could really get into. Fast forward a few years and here we are …
Of course over the years I’ve learned a few more things – for instance, Content Marketing is not just about writing content … it’s about developing a strategy to use content to develop awareness of your products or services, help them understand why they need those products or services, and assist them on the journey from unaware to repeat customer.
I know marketing your business can sometimes seem overwhelming, and that’s why I am here to help. Send me a message and let’s discuss how I can help you develop a content marketing strategy that’s right for you and your business.
